Thursday, September 26

  • 7:00am-8:00am
    • Poster set-up. Location: Plaza Ballroom
  • 7:30-8:30am
    • Trainee registration, breakfast. Location: Plaza Foyer
      • All Trainees are required to register prior to 8:30am on Thursday, September 26.
    • Please check-in with the CFN Training Team at registration, and join your fellow Trainees for a “meet at greet” in the Toronto Meeting Room prior to the opening of the conference. 
  • 8:30am-9:00am
    • Welcome and Opening Remarks of the National Conference. To ensure as little disruption as possible, Trainees will be dismissed from the main plenary room by the MC following the welcome and opening remarks. Location: Plaza Ballroom
  • 9:00am-10:30am
    • CFN Trainee Special Session: Bring your creations to life. Learn why intellectual property matters.Innovation starts with an idea—your idea. Are you developing your idea into something tangible such as building a brand for your business or creating a product to sell? If so, then you need to know about intellectual property (IP). This seminar will introduce you to trademarks, patents, trade secrets, industrial designs and copyright, and explain how protecting your creations through IP rights can give you an advantage over your competition. . Location: Toronto Meeting Room

Poster Judging Times for Thursday, September 26

Trainees are expected to be present at their posters during the following times:

CFN IFP & SSA: 12:30pm-1:30pm

CFN Project HQP: 1:30pm-2:30pm

Friday, September 27

  • 8:30am-12:40pm
    • National Conference
  • 12:40pm
    • Trainee Poster Winners Announced. Posters may not be removed prior to this time. Posters may be removed following the award announcement until the end of the lunch break at 1:40pm.
  • 3:40pm
    • Conference end and poster tear down.

CFN Trainee Participation at the Conference

HQP/Trainee delegates to CFN’s annual conference share knowledge, best practices and policy, and network with attendees working in the field to collaborate and build relationships. Attendees include researchers, trainees, knowledge users, policy makers, patients and families and the public.

Some HQP are also required to submit abstracts and present posters. The purpose of abstract presentation and poster presentation is to provide participants with experiential learning relating to knowledge translation.

For the 2019 Conference, the following Training participants are required to present posters:

 

  • Interdisciplinary Fellows – 2019
  • Summer Students – 2019
  • Trainees from selected current or recently-finished research or KT projects (by invitation only), as named by the Project Leaders
  • Interdisciplinary Fellows—2018 (optional)

These HQP will receive personal invitations with details on CFN sponsored travel and accommodation.
