The Sleep Kit: Enhancing Sleep Quality for Persons Living with Dementia
The Sleep Kit is a tool that I developed for people living with dementia and their care-partners to improve sleep efficacy. It is essentially a bedtime routine in a box, containing 13 non pharmacological interventions focused on one-on-one social interaction between care-partners. In 2018, I received the Spark Grant from the Centre for Aging & Brain Health Innovation (CABHI) and the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF). I used this grant to test and validate The Sleep Kit at York Care Centre and in the community in Fredericton, NB. Since then, Adrienne McNair became my business partner, and we sell The Sleep Kit on our website. I also just submitted a paper for publication with Dr. Janet Durkee Lloyd and Justine Henry which outlines all of the findings from our research project.
